| What is Development and why do i need it?
This is a tricky question
to answer because so many people have
different explanations for it. If you
want to develop just to sell a domain
then these Tips still apply. I follow
a code when developing a domain/website.
These are as follows.
1. Planning
2. Information
3. Design
4. Construction
5. Marketing
6. Maintenance
Let me explain the following Top 6 tips
below and of course if you are still
unsure. Do drop me an email, or post
in the new forum and i will of course
reply.

Planning
Pretty self explanatory,
plan what type of domain explains your
business well. Its no good having a domain
called cars.com
if your business is about computers. Unless
of course you sell computers for cars.
Then a domain like computercars.com
or computersforcars.com
would be better.
Why?
Think about it, search engine works on
keywords in your meta-tags the last two
domains have both your keywords in COMPUTERS
and CARS so your website will not be lost
amoung all the other type of car websites
on the market. Planning like this will
pay off in the long run because you are
boosting your case when it comes to marketing
and information.

| Information
As with planning
make sure you think deeply about this
topic. Make sure you explain fully what
your business does and put it all in a
word document.
Things to consider
at this level are the following for
information.
1.
Write down everything you want to get
out of your website. What your business
does, what you want to achieve, do you
need a ecommerce solution as in shopping
cart etc.
2.
Play around with publisher
to get an idea of a layout for the site.
This is handy for the designers when
you move to this stage.
3.
Get all the pictures taken of your products
or sales team, graphics etc etc. This
will save you alot of money by doing
this yourself the designers will not
be able to charge lots for doing it.
If you have a project
and wish to talk about it then again drop
me an email and i will be more than happy
to discuss it with my design team at

Design
This section does not need alot of talk becuase if you have done the above to steps successfully then it is a case of just choosing the right designers and a budget. Always look up their past works to make sure you are getting a quality service. I am here to research companies if you need advice on this step. I also have my own Internet hosting company and web design team at the above website, we have a booked schedule until then end of 2005 but if you would still like us to look over your site needs we are happy to do so.

Construction
Once the site has been constructed, with all pages completed and all database, ecommerce etc and programming components linked, it is ready for beta testing. Testing should always be done by people outside your site development team or business who are willing to supply informed criticism and report programming bugs, typographic errors, and critique the overall design and effectiveness of the site. This is extrememly good advice so take note of this, its no good having a bunch of yes men in the company going yeah it looks great. Of course the designers will also say its a great site because they designed it for you.

| Marketing
This bit is the most
important part of your development project.
Remember this statement because it is
so so true.
"
You may have the best website in the
world,
but if no one can see it what is the
point."
I am not going to write down too much
because this whole site covers marketing
in a big way, so my best advice is to
read the whole site. Of course at anytime
you need help with this topic then do
contact me. What i will do though is put
down the things you will need to do and
consider.
1.
Sign up and submit to all search engines
and directories. (
i have many places throughout the site
that have free submits and help on this.)
2.
Make sure all business cards, letterheads,
complimentary slips any type of paper
work your office has promotes two things.
web address and email address.
3. Trusted
links!! this is important make sure you
have links coming to your site from other
affiliated websites. This will help drive
traffic to your website and traffic
= hits
= "potential
sales". ( i
have a big topic on this under the links
header on the menu) Another excellent way to get traffic is to use a company like the following banner. Many clients have used this company with amazing results so try them out nothing much to loose only $19 and the dedicated niche traffic you get in return makes it priceless.
4.
Pay programs, like Adwords and sponsored
listings via Google and other major
engines is an instant way of being listed.
This can be a costly one though because
you pay everytime someone clicks on
your sponsored link and comes to your
website. I love Adwords but my main
business has a monthly budget for promotion
and it pays for itself. If you have
a unique product which you know with
dominate the market for interest then
you would be crazy not to setup a adwords
or similar account.
Something to steer clear of and this is my personal opinion is email campaigns. What with the increase of spam nowadays and the huge crack down on it, sending out email shots sure can possibly get you clients but could also have a negative impact on your web presense.

Maintenance
Once the site is
live, someone will need to be responsible
for coordinating and updating the new
content. Maintaining the graphics and
assuring that the programming and linkages
of all pages remain intact and functional.
Links on your website can fail due to
a number of reason the main one being
the person linking to your site has stopped
or there site is not working. and you'll
need to check periodically that links
to pages outside your immediate site are
still working.
"Don't let
your site go stale."
A key thing to remember is search engines
spider your site regularly so if you have
new content then that can help you in
your listings.
